Medical scans at a hospital in Dusseldorf promptly confirmed the nose break before he rejoined the national team.
The French Football Federation (FFF) announced that Mbappe does not require surgery and will wear a protective mask. They expect to provide an update on his condition on Wednesday. Despite his injury, Mbappe played a crucial role in France’s winning goal against Austria, as his cross led to an own goal by defender Max Wober.
France manager Didier Deschamps expressed concern for Kylian Mbappe’s well-being in a post-match conference, noting that the star player was not in good spirits.
