Canadian GP: Leclerc Eyes Ferrari's Chance to Outshine Red Bull

Canadian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc sees another opportunity for Ferrari to outpace Red Bull following his Monaco victory. Leclerc believes the Montreal circuit might not favor Red Bull’s car, similar to Monaco where he became the second driver to beat Max Verstappen in three races. Leclerc stated, “Monaco was particularly favorable for us. Maybe here it is neutral. I don’t think it puts too much emphasis on the strength of the Red Bull, so it might again be an opportunity for us.” McLaren’s Lando Norris, who secured second place ahead of Verstappen in Miami, considers Ferrari the “favorites” for victory in Canadian GP. “But it is going to be close,” he added.
Both Norris and Leclerc think Red Bull’s weaknesses over kerbs, evident in Monaco could be a drawback around Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Leclerc pointed out, “I don’t think their strength is kerb riding and here there is quite a lot of kerb riding.” Verstappen acknowledged the challenge, saying, “We still have a quick car, but some tracks just work a little bit better for us than others.” Norris emphasized that the field has narrowed enough for drivers from Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren to believe they have a shot at winning.
Leclerc, who reduced Verstappen’s championship lead to 31 points, downplayed talk of a title challenge, stating, “I am not thinking about the championship yet.” He added, “But definitely the target is to be able to win races every weekend.” Leclerc anticipates Red Bull’s performance to improve from Barcelona onwards but he emphasized seizing every opportunity until then.
