Albon Overcomes Setback: Qualifies Strong Despite Car Swap

During opening practice on Friday, Alex Albon’s car suffered significant damage in a crash, forcing him to sit out FP2. With no spare chassis available, team principal James Vowles decided to allocate Albon the only remaining healthy chassis for Saturday’s sessions, sidelining Logan Sargeant for the rest of the weekend.

Despite the unusual circumstance of driving his teammate’s car, Albon performed admirably in qualifying, securing 12th place, just behind Lewis Hamilton. Albon acknowledged the responsibility of driving Sargeant’s car but focused on his task at hand. He praised Sargeant for his professionalism and assistance during the situation.

Albon noted that the car felt similar to his own, focusing on regaining confidence and rhythm on the track. He felt satisfied with his qualifying performance, considering the challenges faced over the past few days.
