Aston Villa Posts £119.6 Million Loss in Latest Financial Report

Aston Villa has disclosed a £119.6 million loss in their latest accounts until May 31, 2023. Despite finishing seventh in the Premier League to secure European qualification, the loss is within the profit and sustainability rules of the league. The statement from Villa emphasized the owners’ commitment to the club’s long-term development.

Investments in infrastructure, the academy, charity foundation and women’s football are deductible from the profit and sustainability figures. Villa reported increased revenue of £217.7 million in 2022-23 with notable player transfers including Diego Carlos and Philippe Coutinho.

Despite rising wage costs and managerial changes, the club achieved its best league finish in over a decade. Currently fourth in the Premier League, Villa is on track for a Champions League spot next season. Everton faced a points deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules and both Everton and Nottingham Forest are charged for alleged breaches in their accounts up to 2022-23.
