Oleksandr Usyk has a backup opponent Filip Hrgovic contracted in case Tyson Fury withdraws again from their super-fight. The original bout was postponed to May 18 after Fury suffered a cut in sparring. Both fighters agreed to forfeit £10 million if they withdraw.
Usyk’s trainer, Sergey Lapin revealed that Hrgovic is ready to step in ensuring the fight will proceed even if Fury doesn’t show up. Lapin taunted Fury suggesting that facing Usyk would be a tough challenge for him. The bout is expected to be a significant test for Fury who according to Lapin is in a rapid decline.
