Bahrain’s Sakhir Circuit Undergoes Urgent Repairs for F1 Opener

Ahead of the season opener at Bahrain’s Sakhir circuit remedial works including filling troublesome drains with concrete and additional welding were conducted after loose covers disrupted Formula One testing last week. The FIA noted that the repairs were specifically carried out around turns 7 and 11.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen called for increased checks expressing concerns that the aerodynamic suction of the latest high-downforce cars could contribute to such incidents. The repairs were prompted by incidents reminiscent of a serious one that damaged Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari during practice for the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
