Noni Madueke has reiterated his criticism of the VAR decision that led to Chelsea’s late goal against Aston Villa being disallowed. Chelsea appeared to have secured a thrilling comeback victory at Villa Park when Axel Disasi scored in stoppage time but the goal was overturned due to an alleged foul by Benoit Badiashile as determined by VAR intervention.
Madueke expressed his frustration with the decision, stating that he believed the goal should have stood and that Chelsea deserved three points. He also acknowledged the team’s need to perform better consistently but praised their efforts in the match. Madueke, along with teammates Disasi and Nicolas Jackson confronted the match officials after the game while Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff also expressed disbelief at the decision.
Pochettino went as far as to claim that VAR is damaging English football, citing recent controversial decisions and their impact on the game.
