Controversy Continues: ITIA Appeals Decision in Tara Moore Doping Case

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) plans to challenge the decision clearing British tennis player Tara Moore of responsibility for a positive doping test. Moore formerly Britain’s top women’s doubles player faced a provisional ban in May 2022 after testing positive for nandrolone and boldenone during a competition in Bogota, Colombia.

However, an independent tribunal later ruled that contaminated meat was the likely source of the banned substances and absolved Moore of fault or negligence. Despite this ruling, the ITIA intends to appeal specifically regarding the nandrolone finding.

Moore who had her provisional suspension lifted expressed frustration over the ordeal citing lost time and emotional distress and highlighted the challenges ahead in rebuilding her reputation.
