Drama in Asian Cup Group Stage: Malaysia’s Late Equalizer, Bahrain’s Victory and South Korea’s Frustration

South Korea finished second in their Asian Cup group after drawing 3-3 with Malaysia, who scored a late equalizer in added time. Bahrain secured the top spot with a 1-0 win over Jordan. Bahrain earned six points with a goal from Abdulla Yusuf Helal. Jordan finished third with four points and also advanced as one of the best third-placed teams.

South Korea’s coach, Jürgen Klinsmann expressed frustration with the result but denied deliberately finishing second to avoid a tough match against Japan. Despite opening the scoring with a header from Jeong Woo-yeong, South Korea conceded goals including a penalty awarded after a VAR check.

Lee Kang-in’s free-kick led to an own goal and Son Heung-min converted a penalty but Malaysia equalized in stoppage time. Malaysia’s coach, Kim Pan-gon, praised the result and thanked the fans. Bahrain secured their win with a counterattack goal from Helal. They will face Japan in the next round, while Jordan awaits their opponent.
