Everton has appealed against a two points deduction they received for breaching Premier League financial rules. This comes after they were previously docked six points earlier in the season for a similar breach. The appeal hearing is expected soon with the Premier League aiming for a resolution before the season ends on May 19th. Everton current position just above the relegation zone, makes the appeal crucial.
In a similar situation in February, Everton appeal reduced a previous deduction from 10 points to six. The breach this time involved overspending by £16.6 million over three seasons, resulting in the deduction. Other clubs, like Nottingham Forest have faced similar penalties. While new financial rules are being discussed, current rules and point deductions will continue for the upcoming season.
