Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes Nottingham Forest has received a “raw deal” regarding Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations in the Premier League. The club is expected to face an independent commission hearing after being charged for breaching profit and sustainability rules.
Maguire argues that Forest, having been promoted with a comparatively low-cost squad faced restrictions with a £61 million allowable loss for FFP compared to the £105 million for established Premier League clubs. However, he acknowledges that Forest appears to have exceeded these limits due to significant player signings and wages.
The independent commission hearing is anticipated to take place in the first half of March.
