GAA Nears Financial Limit for Casement Park Redevelopment as Irish Government Allocates €50m

The GAA has stated it is reaching its financial limit for contributing to the redevelopment of Casement Park after the Irish Government allocated €50m (£42.8m). Ulster GAA Chief Executive Brian McAvoy urged the UK government and Stormont Executive to clarify their stance on future funding emphasizing the GAA’s amateur status and limited financial capacity.

The redevelopment has faced delays, and there are uncertainties about the total cost with initial estimates at £77.5m a decade ago. The completion of the project is expected to be after the 2027 Ulster Gaelic football final and the stadium is also set to host Euro 2028 soccer games.
