Rowett who previously managed the club returns after Tony Mowbray’s continued absence due to medical treatment. Assistant Mark Venus had been in charge during Mowbray’s absence but the team has struggled earning just one point in six matches.
With Birmingham on the brink of relegation, Rowett’s appointment aims to provide stability and experience. Rowett becomes the sixth manager at Birmingham this season and is tasked with steering the club to safety in their remaining eight games. Birmingham’s next match is against QPR on March 29.
