Iga Swiatek Claims Indian Wells Crown with Convincing Win over Maria Sakkari

Iga Swiatek the world No. 1 claimed her second Indian Wells title by defeating Maria Sakkari in straight sets in the final on Sunday. The Polish player dominated the tournament without dropping a set and only losing 21 games on her way to victory adding to her recent Qatar Open win. Despite facing challenges in earlier matches, Swiatek expressed pride in her performance and improvement throughout the event.

With this win, she extends her streak of consecutive WTA finals victories to six and maintains an impressive career record of 19-4. At just 22 years old, Swiatek has already secured four Grand Slam titles and eight WTA 1000 titles. Sakkari her opponent in the final praised Swiatek skills and championship demeanor despite the quick match. 

Looking ahead, Swiątek aims to continue her success at the upcoming Miami Open seeking to achieve the ‘Sunshine Double’ for the second time in her career.
