Former Worcestershire captain Joe Leach has agreed to extend his contract with the club until the end of the 2025 season. The 33 years old all-rounder, whose existing deal was set to expire this summer reached a milestone by taking his 450th first-class wicket in 2023 contributing to Worcestershire’s promotion to County Championship Division One. Expressing his enthusiasm for the club’s new era, Leach is eager to contribute for at least the next couple of years. Having debuted for Worcestershire in 2012 and captained the side for five years, he played a crucial role in their 2017 promotion as well.
Leach remains committed to the club aims to achieve further goals as he continues his career, emphasizing his loyalty as he becomes a one-club man. Last summer, he emerged as Worcestershire’s leading wicket-taker in the Championship securing 48 victims and has also made notable contributions with the bat, accumulating 3,821 first-class runs. Head coach Alan Richardson praised Leach as a dedicated team player, acknowledging his tremendous career spanning over a decade with Worcestershire. Richardson highlighted Leach’s significant contribution to the team and recognized him with a testimonial for the year.
