Mary Earps has shared a touching message with her Lionesses teammate Leah Williamson following the defender’s return from a lengthy ACL injury layoff. Williamson made her comeback during Arsenal’s WSL Cup victory against Reading coming off the bench to assist a goal for Beth Mead.
After the match, Williamson expressed her gratitude for the support she received during her nine-month absence. In response, Earps congratulated her teammate expressing pride in her achievement. ACL injuries have unfortunately become common in women’s football, with several top players affected.
Both Williamson and Mead have faced this challenge along with others at Arsenal. Looking ahead, Williamson aims to gain more playing time as Arsenal faces Liverpool while Earps will feature for Manchester United against Aston Villa on the same day.
