Malaysian Squash Sensation Sivasangari Subramaniam Stuns World Champion

Despite the prospect of sending one of its smallest Olympic teams to Paris in 2024, Malaysia boasts talented athletes, one of whom recently achieved a remarkable feat. Malaysian squash player Sivasangari Subramaniam ranked 16th globally, defeated seven-time Egyptian World Champion Nour El Sherbini.

The Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh congratulated Sivasangari on Twitter emphasizing her journey towards gold. Sivasangari described her victory as unexpected and credited her relentless performance on the court. She is the first Malaysian to reach a gold level final since Nicol David in 2015.

This achievement underscores Sivasangari’s exceptional talent and dedication to her sport.
