Manchester City Takes Commanding Lead in Champions League with Win over Copenhagen

Manchester City resumed their Champions League title defense with a comfortable victory over FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their last-16 tie. Kevin De Bruyne gave City an early lead but a poor clearance by Ederson allowed Copenhagen’s Magnus Mattsson to equalize with a fantastic strike.

Bernardo Silva restored City’s lead just before half time. Despite missing some chances in the second half, City secured a two goals cushion with Phil Foden’s late strike. The second leg is scheduled for March 6. Jack Grealish’s early injury is a concern for City while Silva also picked up a knock.

Guardiola praised his team’s patience and performance expressing hope for a successful conclusion in the next game.
