Manchester United’s Martinez Cuts Short Argentina Duty for Premier League Prep

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has decided to cut short his call-up with the Argentina national squad and return to England on Saturday. Martinez, who has been recovering from a knee injury sustained in February, joined Lionel Scaloni squad for training sessions in the USA but opted to focus on preparing for Manchester United upcoming Premier League match against Brentford.

Initially allowed by United to join the national team for varied training sessions, Martinez now feels it’s best to return to Manchester for his full rehabilitation and potential first-team comeback. Despite his absence, Martinez remains an important player for both United and Argentina with Scaloni considering him a key component for future tournaments.

Martinez will now intensify his training at Manchester United Carrington base. Meanwhile, United has dealt with several injuries to key players like Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane. Amidst this, Varane’s future at the club remains uncertain with Saudi Arabian clubs showing interest and United exploring potential signings like Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite facing competition from rivals Manchester City and Tottenham.
