Mercedes Overhauls W15 Design for Bahrain Opener After W14 Struggles

Mercedes faced challenges last year with their problematic 2022 concept leading to a second place finish in the constructors’ championship. The W14’s handling issues prompted Lewis Hamilton and George Russell to struggle for consistency.

This season, Mercedes has introduced the heavily revised W15 at the Bahrain opener incorporating design changes and a rearward cockpit position as requested by Hamilton. Russell emphasized the collaborative effort between Hamilton and himself in steering the team’s direction.

While changes have been made based on Hamilton’s preferences, the focus remains on lap times. Russell expressed satisfaction with the alterations and noted Hamilton’s continued commitment to improving the W15 in his final season with Mercedes before joining Ferrari next year.
