Mourinho Discloses Past Offer to Manage England National Team

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was once offered the opportunity to become the England manager but turned it down in favor of focusing on club football. The 61 years old who recently left his position as Roma head coach had rejected the chance to manage his home nation in the past and is now being considered for international management. Mourinho disclosed that he was offered the England job before Fabio Capello was appointed in 2007.

He expressed his reluctance for national team roles and cited his commitment to club football during that period. Reflecting on the current England squad, Mourinho praised players like Jude Bellingham but noted that they might be missing something extra to win major competitions.

Despite acknowledging England’s potential, he emphasized his wish for Portugal’s success. Mourinho’s revelation surprised Rio Ferdinand who commented that England might have won something with Mourinho as the coach. Mourinho believes that Bellingham brings a different dimension and personality to the squad.
