Novak Djokovic advanced closer to his potential first Monte Carlo Masters title since 2015 by defeating Australian Alex de Minaur securing a spot in the semi-finals. Despite a chaotic second set with seven breaks of serve, the world number one aged 36 clinched a 7-5, 6-4 victory. This achievement marked Djokovic record-breaking 77th semi-final appearance at ATP 1000 events surpassing Rafael Nadal. In the upcoming match, Djokovic will face either Norwegian eighth seed Casper Ruud or Frenchman Ugo Humbert for a chance at the final.

Additionally, Italian second seed Jannik Sinner overcame Holger Rune to set up a semi-final against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Djokovic who acknowledged not performing at his peak level previously remains undefeated in sets on his journey to the semi-finals making this his first appearance at this stage since his last victory in 2015. Furthermore, following his triumph over De Minaur, Djokovic set to celebrate his 37th birthday in May became the oldest semi-finalist in the tournament’s history.
