Overcrowding and Alcohol Halts: Phoenix Open Faces Unprecedented Challenges

The Phoenix Open known for its lively atmosphere had to limit entry and briefly halt alcohol sales on Saturday due to overcrowding at TPC Scottsdale. This marks the first instance of the tournament temporarily turning away ticket holders.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions with rain and temperatures in the 40s, large crowds flocked to the event. The iconic 16th hole often likened to a rowdy frat party is the focal point of the boisterous atmosphere.

Canadian Nick Taylor leads the tournament with American Sahith Theegala one shot behind. Saturday’s play concluded early due to darkness and potential frost delays may extend the competition into Monday.
