Pep Guardiola Looks Ahead After Man City’s European Dream Ends in Penalty Drama

Pep Guardiola expressed no regrets as Manchester City bid for consecutive Champions League titles came to an end with a penalty shootout loss to Real Madrid. Despite dominating the return leg at the Etihad Stadium, City could only manage a 1-1 draw leading to a 4-3 defeat on penalties. Guardiola praised his team’s performance but acknowledged Real Madrid deep defensive tactics.

Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed crucial penalties but Guardiola refused to blame them. City loss also dashed their hopes of a second successive treble. Guardiola urged his team to recover for the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted City strength forced them to defend deep and play for penalties which they ultimately won.

Ancelotti emphasized Real Madrid resilience and determination in securing the victory.
