PGA Tour’s Player Director Adam Scott Pushes for a More Inclusive Golf Future

Adam Scott is expressing concerns about the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) becoming irrelevant if it doesn’t adopt a more global approach. As a Player Director on the PGA Tour’s Policy Board, he wants to play a role in shaping golf’s future, particularly in negotiations with the Saudi PIF. Scott agrees with Rory McIlroy and Greg Norman about the importance of making golf more global. He criticizes recent OWGR changes for being too focused on PGA Tour events, potentially hurting tournaments on the DP World Tour and Asian Tour. He fears the rankings could lose relevance without a more global perspective.

In addition to advocating for a global focus in OWGR changes, Scott wants a similar approach in big events operated by any new PGA Tour-PIF company. He emphasizes the need for an international voice in negotiations, representing the global growth of golf. Scott acknowledges that change won’t happen overnight and emphasizes the importance of balancing traditional U.S. tournaments with new international events. He believes there are opportunities to achieve a better balance and hopes to contribute to a vision for the future of golf that considers the interests of players worldwide.
