Sean Dyche Advocates Rule Change to Protect Premier League’s Competitive Integrity

Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche has called for a change in rules regarding financial breaches in the Premier League to safeguard competitive integrity. The current rules allow for a fast track resolution of standard financial breaches within 12 weeks with points deductions applied to the same season as the club’s accounts are submitted.

Dyche argues that Everton’s recent experience where a 10 points deduction was later reduced on appeal exposes flaws in the system. He proposes that any points deductions should be applied at the start of the next season to ensure fairness and a level playing field for all clubs throughout a campaign.

Despite the appeal verdict, Everton faces the threat of a second points deduction this season for breaching financial rules up to 2023.
