Setup Woes: Lewis Hamilton Battle with Understeer and Grip at Chinese GP

Lewis Hamilton appeared to have made promising progress during the first two days of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend securing a front row start for the sprint race despite challenging conditions. However, significant changes to his car’s setup before the grand prix qualifying session did not yield positive results. Hamilton struggled with chronic understeer and tire grip issues throughout the race despite starting on the softest compound.

His difficulties were evident from the early laps with Hamilton expressing frustration over radio communication. Despite pit stops and adjustments including a switch to medium tires, Hamilton continued to struggle with grip and handling. The race saw him battling with his car’s balance and attempting to manage tire degradation ultimately finishing in 9th place.

Throughout the race, Hamilton and his engineer discussed various strategies and adjustments to address the car’s handling issues but they were unable to significantly improve performance. Hamilton expressed regret over the setup changes made after the sprint race acknowledging the challenges faced during the race.
