Simon Yates Seizes AlUla Tour Victory with Dramatic Stage Win

Simon Yates of Jayco-AlUla claimed victory in the AlUla Tour by a mere three-second margin after triumphing in the final stage which concluded with a challenging ascent up to the Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid. Despite trailing Finn Fisher-Black of UAE Team Emirates by three seconds in the virtual general classification near the finish, Yates secured a ten-second time bonus for winning the stage ultimately clinching the overall victory.

The 21 years old neo-pro William Lecerf of Soudal-Quick Step finished second on the stage earning six bonus seconds and equaling Fisher-Black’s overall time but surpassing him due to better stage placings. Yates expressed relief and satisfaction at his victory acknowledging the importance of the race for his team and their partnership with AlUla.

Despite attempting to break away on the steep climb, Yates was unable to shake off his rivals and had to settle for a sprint finish which he executed successfully to secure the stage win and overall victory. Notably, Yates started his sprint early and managed to hold off Fisher-Black to claim the stage victory and the tour title.
