Thai Ownership Mulls Over F1 Operations Amid Horner Scandal

Red Bull majority owner reportedly dispatched a family member known as the ‘Thai spy,’ to monitor the Christian Horner scandal and the company as a whole. The individual conducted a thorough review of each department upon arrival at the company’s headquarters in Salzburg. Concerns have arisen that the Thai ownership might initiate significant changes marking a departure from their previous hands-off approach.

Despite allegations of inappropriate behavior against Horner and a subsequent internal investigation clearing him, the scandal has caused turmoil within the company and the Formula 1 community. Chalerm Yoovidhya owning 51% of Red Bull possesses considerable wealth with his family ranking among Thailand’s wealthiest. With the passing of company founder Dietrich Mateschitz, the Yoovidhya family is reportedly considering increased involvement in Red Bull’s F1 operations.

The scandal has prompted calls for a swift resolution as the woman involved has appealed against the company’s findings exonerating Horner. Despite the ongoing turmoil, Horner remains in his role and is expected to oversee Red Bull’s activities at the upcoming Australian Grand Prix.
