Time for Change: Owen Farrell Announces Departure from Saracens

Owen Farrell has expressed that the “time feels right” to leave Saracens but is determined to end his tenure with the club on a high note. The 32 years old England fly-half is set to join French Top 14 side Racing 92 on a two years deal in July. Farrell who joined Saracens at the age of 14 is approaching his 250th appearance for the club and aims to make the remainder of the season memorable.

Having debuted for Saracens in 2008, Farrell played a crucial role winning six Premiership titles and three Champions Cups. Despite the difficulty of leaving a place he considered home, Farrell sees the move as an exciting opportunity for his family.

In November, he took a break from international rugby to prioritize mental well-being. Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall acknowledged Farrell as a “once-in-a-generation player” and emphasized his integral role in the club’s success. Tributes and special acknowledgments are planned for Farrell as he concludes his Saracens journey.
