Tottenham’s Transfer Triumphs: Radu Dragusin Secured, Conor Gallagher Next on Radar

Tottenham Hotspur is actively pursuing the acquisition of a number eight midfielder, with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher remaining their top choice. This follows Spurs’ successful negotiation of a £30m deal for Genoa center-back Radu Dragusin, marking the second of three targeted signings for this transfer window. The club has emerged as the most proactive in a relatively quiet transfer period, having already secured a loan deal for Leipzig’s Timo Werner.

With the desire to bolster the squad further, Tottenham aims to finalize the midfielder signing between their upcoming match against Manchester United and the FA Cup fourth-round game against Manchester City. Manager Ange Postecoglou is specifically seeking a dynamic midfielder who can operate at the forefront of the midfield and also provide cover for James Maddison if needed.

Conor Gallagher is the preferred candidate, and Chelsea is reportedly open to negotiations for the right price, potentially reaching up to £50m. However, complications arise as Gallagher is viewed as a key player by Mauricio Pochettino, who values him for his tactical adaptability within the team’s 4-3-3 system. Pochettino is hesitant to part ways with such a crucial player, especially given the team’s inconsistent performance during this early phase of his managerial tenure.

Despite the potential transfer, Gallagher is currently relishing his role at Chelsea, where he has taken on increased responsibility, even captaining the side in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell. The acquisition of Dragusin was successfully concluded after prolonged negotiations, with Genoa initially firm on a £30m valuation.
