Transfer Standoff: Al-Shabab Unable to Seal Deal for Almiron

Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron is likely to remain at the club this month as Al-Shabab failed to meet their £30m valuation for the Paraguayan midfielder. Despite negotiations, the Saudi Pro League side couldn’t reach an agreement leaving Eddie Howe’s hopes of new signings reliant on player departures to adhere to Premier League financial rules.

Bayern Munich’s approach for Kieran Trippier was rebuffed while Callum Wilson also on the market hasn’t attracted any bids. Almiron, who missed a recent match due to illness could feature against Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Juventus forward Timothy Weah turned down a loan move to Everton and Sheffield United is eyeing Southampton’s Sékou Mara though a deal is contingent on finding a replacement.
