Violent Incident at Villa Park

Police officers were injured in a violent incident that occurred before the Europa Conference League clash between Legia Warsaw and Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this morning.

Objects were thrown towards officers by the visiting fans near Villa Park before they were scheduled to enter the stadium. Fear of riots were quickly intervened by police officers working on the day.

Reportedly, three police officers were injured, but the match proceeded as scheduled, even though no Legia fans were allowed to watch from inside the stadium prior to kickoff.

Birmingham Police released a statement through X, stating, “We’ve made more than 30 arrests as officers were injured during serious disorder involving away fans outside Villa Park this evening (30 November). We were faced with disgusting and highly dangerous scenes as trouble flared.”

For the record, Aston Villa won the match 2-1, thanks to goals from Moussa Diaby and Alex Moreno.
