West Ham Eyes Asian Talents: Sugawara and Young-woo Top January Transfer Wishlist

West Ham is actively pursuing right-back Yukinari Sugawara from AZ Alkmaar and Seol Young-woo from Ulsan HD in the current January transfer window. The club’s technical director, Tim Steidten is scouting games at the AFC Asian Cup and recently observed Sugawara’s performance in a 4-2 victory against Vietnam. West Ham sees the Asian market as a significant area for future recruitment and aims to secure deals for players like Young-Woo and Sugawara at a reasonable price this January.

The club is also interested in Manchester United’s Aaron Wan Bissaka as a potential replacement for Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson. Outgoing deals including talks with Lyon for Said Benrahma and potential interest in Danny Ings from Wolves, play a crucial role in these transfers due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) considerations. Ben Johnson has attracted interest from Leeds and Millwall with both clubs approaching West Ham for his signature. Sugawara, 23, is valued at €7.5 million, while Young-woo, 25, is valued at €0.8 million.
