Molly Caudery claimed the pole vault title at the World Athletics Continental Tour event in the Czech Republic with a leading mark of the year.
Molly Caudery, Britain’s pole vault athlete, emerged victorious at the World Athletics Continental Tour event in the Czech Republic, showcasing a world-leading performance for the year. The 24-year-old athlete cleared an impressive height of 4.84m at the Ostrava Golden Spike, marking the highest women’s outdoor vault achieved thus far in 2024. Despite two unsuccessful attempts at setting a new national record of 4.92m, Molly Caudery secured her title. Her exceptional performance underscored her prowess in pole vaulting and positioned her as a formidable contender in the sport.
Meanwhile, the 2016 Olympic champion, Katerina Stefanidi trailed behind Caudery by 20cm claiming second place in the competition. In the men’s event, Sweden’s Armand Duplantis triumphed in the pole vault achieving a height of 6.00m. Duplantis, the Olympic and world champion, made a remarkable attempt to break the outdoor world record for the ninth time, narrowly missing the mark at 6.25m.
In other events, Britain’s Lina Nielsen secured second place in the women’s 400m hurdles, finishing behind the Netherlands’ Cathelijn Peeters. Additionally, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake clinched third place in the men’s 200m race, which was dominated by Canada’s Andre de Grasse, who also claimed victory in the 100m event. De Grasse showcased his speed and prowess on the track, asserting his dominance in multiple sprint disciplines.
