Memorial Tournament: Hadwin Leads, Scheffler Close Behind

Memorial Tournament held in Ohio, United States, Canadian golfer Adam Hadwin has taken a one-shot lead after the initial round. He commands the leaderboard with a six-under-par 66, a remarkable achievement considering he finished his day at Muirfield Village with a bogey on his final hole. Not far behind him, Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer from the United States, trails by just one shot with a score of five under.

Sharing the third spot on the leaderboard with a score of four under are a group of talented golfers: Americans Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg from Sweden, and another Canadian, Corey Conners. Positioned at three under par, we find five golfers tied for the seventh place. This group includes England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Seamus Power of Ireland.

Northern Ireland’s acclaimed golfer, Rory McIlroy, is also in the mix, sitting at two under par. Unfortunately, not every golfer had a successful day. England’s Justin Rose finds himself at the end of the leaderboard, ranking 73rd after a challenging day. A triple-bogey seven at the 18th hole resulted in a score of eight over.

The Memorial Tournament is the last event before the US Open and stands as a signature event of the PGA Tour. It offers an impressive purse of $20 million (£15.6 million) that the 73 competing golfers are vying for. As they prepare for the following rounds, golfers and fans alike eagerly anticipate the unfolding action on the green.
