Trailing 7-5, 4-1 in Switzerland, Murray, the former world number one, expressed frustration to umpire Greg Allensworth, stating, “It’s like it’s snowing out here and you still want us to keep playing.” Rainfall and gusts of wind blew white pollen onto the court, prompting the players to return to the locker room. They rescheduled the match for Tuesday, starting at 12:00 BST.
Additionally, organizers rescheduled fellow Briton Jack Draper’s match against Tomas Machac for Tuesday. If Murray doesn’t rally against Germany’s Hanfmann, he’ll miss facing world number one Novak Djokovic in the second round. Recently returning from an ankle ligament rupture in March, Murray participated in a clay-court ATP Challenger event in Bordeaux, where he exited in the second round.
Although Andy Murray hasn’t announced the location of his final tournament, he actively intends to participate in the upcoming French Open, which begins on May 26th.
